Where can I find more information about the Wellbeing services?

Information packs can be ordered by calling the Contact Centre on 0121 717 1515 or emailing  wellbeing@solihullcommunityhousing.org.uk

I want the Safe and Sound Lite package, how many responders do I need?

We ask that Safe and Sound Lite customers have two responders that live within 45 minutes of the property, and are able to be contacted and attend emergency activations if required 24/7.

We do, however, have our own team of dedicated responders who are on hand 24/7 when you sign up to the Safe and Sound package if you would prefer this.

I don’t have any responders that live close, am I still able to have the service?

Yes, you can! For £8.06 per week you will have access to our unique 24/7 Safe and Sound responder service. This allows people with no responders to have the service knowing that someone is on hand, at all times, to attend to any ‘no response’ activations. Our team of staff are on call 24/7 and able to attend the property within 45 minutes.

As part of the Safe and Sound package, we recommend that customers have a key safe. We are unable to hold keys as responders and would require access to your property if an emergency alarm is activated. We can provide and fit a key safe, which has received police approval, for a charge of £52.38.

Whilst we cannot force you have a key safe, we do want to make you aware that we would not be able to gain access to your home if an emergency alarm is activated. In this case we would use an emergency carpenter to complete a forced entry, and any damage to the door or lock would be your responsibility.

What key safe is provided and is it secure?

The key safe we provide is a Supra C500 key safe. This key safe has police approval and we can supply and fit for £52.38 for those that are coming onto the service. These key safe needs a four-digit code and can be placed discreetly on the front of a property to allow access.

I don’t have a working telephone line, can I still have the pendant alarm?

Yes! Since April 2021 we provide all customers coming onto the service with a digital unit that connects by a SIM card, similar to those used in a mobile phone.

These units do not need a working telephone line. They simply have to be plugged in to an electric socket. We are also able to provide all the same add ons for these units as we did for analogue units.

To find out more, take a look at the digital telephone switchover.

I’m undecided on whether I want the pendant alarm- am I able to see it before I go ahead with an installation?

We can provide a free, no obligation, demonstration of all equipment in your home. One of our officers will come and show the equipment in your home and talk you through how it works. You do not have to make a decision on the day we visit. We can arrange to contact you in one weeks’ time to see if you would like to go ahead.

If you decide on the day you would like to go ahead and keep the equipment we will install it fully and take all of the details we need, along with the upfront costs.

Both me and my wife would like a pendant, are we able to have two going through the same unit?

Yes, you can. We are able to programme two pendants through one unit to cover a couple within the same property. We do however charge a ‘couple fee’ for this, so we would charge double the cost of whichever package was being set up.

What information will you need at installation?

Often, customers contact us before installation to request an information pack to be sent out. This pack requests the information we need from you.

We usually ask for the address and contact details for you and your two responders (if you choose the Lite service), along with any key safe codes and medical conditions or medications you have.

How do I pay my upfront costs?

Upfront charges can be taken when you book over the phone on 0121 717 1515. Or you can pay on the installation day by cheque or on phone. The installing officer can help you with this. We do not accept cash. A monthly direct debit is then set up for the on going monthly charges.

Do you provide any other equipment, other than the pendant alarm?

Yes! We have a range of useful gadgets that aim to maintain safety and independence in your own home!

Falls Safety Package – Alongside the basic pendant alarm, we offer a Falls Safety Package which send an alert on the impact of a fall.

Door exit alarms – These alarms are mainly used for customers who have onset of dementia to alert when a loved one is opening the front door or going out at certain times of the day.

Chair and bed sensors – We are also able to provide chair and bed sensors to alert when your loved ones is getting out of bed.

Pill dispensers – The dispensers are used to support the keep up of medication. It offers safe prompts at medication times and registers alerts if the medication is not taken.
