About Us

Solihull Community Housing was set up in April 2004 to run the housing service on behalf of Solihull Council.

A high rise building run by Solihull Community Housing
Solihull Community Housing (SCH) are an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) set up in April 2004 to manage and maintain council homes and deliver housing services on behalf of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC). Although SCH provides day-to-day housing services, the Council remains the owner of the housing stock and is your landlord. The Council retains the responsibility for ensuring your home is managed in line with the Consumer Standards.

We manage just under 10,000 tenanted homes and approximately 1,000 leasehold properties. We also look after just over 5,000 garages and a small number of shared ownership properties. We manage around 100 temporary accommodation units, supplemented by private sector leasing properties.

We are run by a Board made up of three tenants, three councillors and three independent people chosen for their specialist skills and experience.

SCH is responsible for:

• Managing the waiting list and letting vacant homes
• Collecting rent
• Repairs, maintenance, and improvements in homes and on estates
• Supporting tenants to manage their tenancies
• Supporting tenants with money issues, jobs, training and much more
• Keeping our estates clean and tidy and dealing with anti-social behaviour (ASB)
• Engaging with and listening to customers and communities
• Working with Solihull Council to build and acquire new homes

As a local authority social housing provider, we have an obligation to deliver services that meet the requirements of the Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards.

We have a five-year Future Strategic Vision: Provide Homes, Improve Wellbeing, Strengthen Communities. This also embraces a continuing commitment to contribute to the development and implementation of the Solihull Council Plan.
