The Council is your landlord and the social housing provider responsible for your home. Solihull Community Housing (SCH) manages housing services on behalf of the Council.

As the landlord, the Council is committed to keeping tenants informed and giving you opportunities to be involved in decisions that may affect your homes and the services you receive. SCH supports the Council in delivering this engagement as part of its role as managing agent.

If the Council were to consider any significant change to the way homes are managed, including a potential change of landlord or a substantial change to management arrangements, we would consult with all affected residents before any decision is made. This would include tenants, leaseholders and shared owners where applicable.

Our approach to consultation would include:

  • Providing clear accurate and timely information about the proposed change, including the reasons for it and the potential impact on residents, including information about any potential advantages and disadvantages.
  • Engaging with residents at an early stage and allowing sufficient time for residents to consider the proposal and provide their views.
  • Offering a range of ways to respond, such as surveys, webinars, meetings, resident forums, and written feedback.
  • Making information accessible, including providing alternative formats where required, and taking account of the needs of residents who may be less able to engage through standard consultation methods.
  • Considering all feedback received and using it to help shape the final decision, alongside legal, financial and service considerations. Where residents’ views cannot be fully adopted we will explain why.
  • Sharing the outcome of the consultation, including how residents’ views were taken into account.

Where a proposal involves the transfer of homes to another landlord or a significant change in management arrangements, we will also follow all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including guidance from the Regulator of Social Housing.

Our aim is to ensure you are kept informed, listened to, and meaningfully involved in decisions that affect your homes and communities, in line with the Transparency, Influence & Accountability Standard.
