Physical Difficulties
If you’re struggling to live in your home because of an injury or long term illness, equipment and adaptations in your home could help you to live in your own home independently.
If you think you would benefit for adaptations or additional equipment in your home please call our Wellbeing Team who may be able to help you. If they are unable to help you and you are at risk of homelessness they will make a referral to Solihull Home Options who will contact you to arrange an assessment of your circumstances.
Disabled Facilities Grants
You could get a grant if you’re disabled and need to make changes to your home, for example:
- – widen doors and install ramps
- – improve access to rooms and facilities – e.g. stair lifts or a downstairs bathroom
- – provide a heating system suitable for your needs
- – adapt heating or lighting controls to make them easier to use
More information regarding Disabled Facilities Grants can be found here.
If you feel you need to move because your home isn’t suitable anymore because of your health issues you can register for Council housing and may be able to be given additional priority on the housing waiting list. We will ask you to complete a medical assessment and provide evidence of how your current accommodation is impacting on your health.
