Our Handyperson Home Support Service is part of Solihull Independent Living Service (SILS).
It provides practical, low‑cost support to help you stay independent, safe and comfortable in your own home.
What to expect
Our skilled handyperson can help with a variety of practical jobs around the home including:
• odd jobs and small repairs
• putting up curtain rails or shelves
• changing lightbulbs
• fitting police‑approved key safes
• moving beds or rearranging furniture
• assembling flat‑pack furniture
• home hazard and safety checks
Our handyperson is also trained to assess for aids and equipment that can help you continue living safely and independently.
Every visit is tailored to your needs, ensuring you receive the right support to make your home safer, more comfortable and easier to manage.

To access our Handyperson Home Support Service:
• call 0121 717 1517
• complete an online self-referral using our Handyperson Self-Referral Form
We will discuss your needs and arrange a suitable time to visit your home.
Costings
Our service offers excellent value, with prices starting from £27.01 per hour.
Any equipment that may be available free of charge will be discussed with you during your assessment.
Additional packages
Depending on your needs, we can offer additional support including:
• aids and equipment to support daily living
• home hazard and safety checks
• key safe installation
• installation of a low‑cost personal alarm system for emergency support
We can guide you through the full range of support available and help you access additional SILS services where appropriate.
