Domestic abuse is any pattern of controlling, coercive, threatening, violent, sexual, psychological, emotional or economic abuse within an intimidate or family relationship. It can affect anyone and includes abuse in same-sex relationships, forced marriage, honour-based abuse and female genital mutilation (FGM).
We recognise that some reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB), such as noise nuisance, may be linked to domestic abuse. In these cases, we take a victim-focused and safeguarding-led approach, rather than relying solely on traditional ASB processes.
All reports of domestic abuse are treated seriously and managed in line with our Domestic Abuse Policy. We work closely with partner agencies to provide support, protection and appropriate action for victims and survivors, while taking informed action against perpetrators where necessary.
