Site investigation works getting underway

To get ready for the Kingshurst redevelopment a series of routine site investigation works around the village centre will be getting underway later this week.

What are we doing?

To understand the ground conditions on site and help inform our approach to constructing foundations for the new development a series of site investigations will be carried out at various locations across the site. This will involve the drilling of 20 separate boreholes and 4 small trial pits. The boreholes will be securely capped off and the trial pits will be backfilled prior to our contractors leaving the site.

Who will be doing the work?

The work will be carried out by engineers from SP Associates on behalf of Willmott Dixon.

How long will they take?

The borehole drilling will take place across four separate days on Thursday 28 April, Friday 29 April and Tuesday 3 May, Wednesday 4 May (between the hours of 8am and 5pm). SP Associates will continue to monitor the site over the next 3-6-month period however this will not require any additional drilling.

Is this likely to cause any disruption?

Most of test boreholes will require our contractors to drill through thick layers of concrete which will result in some noise disruption over the four day period. However no heavy machinery will be used outside of daytime working hours. Pedestrian access in and around The Parade will not be restricted during this work.
