By law we have to carry out an annual heating service and safety inspection of your home. This is to protect you and your family.
Dodd Group carries out this work on behalf of Solihull Community Housing. This is a free service. Dodd will write to you, giving you at least seven days’ notice.
Your tenancy agreement states clearly that we must carry out an annual heating service in your home. If you prevent us from doing this you will be in breach of your tenancy.
If you are unable to keep this appointment then it is essential that you call us immediately on our Freephone number 0800 954 6978 to rearrange.
If you miss two appointments, we will take legal action against you and a court injunction will be served. You may be changed for the cost of this.
When your service has been done, the gas contractor will post a copy of the valid gas certificate out to you the next working day.
We service the gas appliances in a property every time it is let to a new tenant. We give the new tenant a copy of the gas service certificate. All the engineers are on the Gas Safe Register (the official body for Gas Safety in the United Kingdom).

What to do if you smell gas
Call the National Grid free on 0800 111 999 at any time, day or night, every day of the year. All calls are recorded and may be monitored. Remember to:
- Turn off the gas at the meter if you can
- Open doors and windows
- If the smell is inside the property, go outside if you can
- Don’t use naked flames or electrical switches.
