Research has shown that many tenancies fail within the first 12 months. This is usually because customers were not fully prepared for how much it would cost to run their home.
To help you get the most of out your new tenancy we will signpost you to all the help and advice you need to sustain your new tenancy.
Getting to know you and sustaining your tenancy Before we offer you a tenancy, you will need to attend a pre tenancy interview. We will contact you with an appointment date and time and you will need to bring some of the following information with you.
An email address (if you don’t have one we will help you set this up)
Bank statements (advice can be given if you do not have a bank account)
National insurance number
Proof of identity
Wage slips
Benefit letters
Passport
Driving license
At this interview we will explain the type of tenancy you will be given – you have the right to review this. We will explain your responsibilities as a tenant, and you will agree to engage with SCH staff, allow access to your home for repairs, gas servicing and tenancy reviews.
We will complete a financial budget with you, and can help you to find work. We can also refer you for support services if this is necessary, as well as getting to know you a little before you move in to your new home.
A copy of the tenancy conditions will be provided, along with information about the My SCH Account which is our online service.
We will also confirm the level of support that we will offer you during your 12 month introductory period. As this is a new tenancy, you will start with a high level of support. This can be amended as the tenancy continues, to medium or low depending on how you are conducting your tenancy.
A pack will be provided containing all the above information.
