Solihull Council has welcomed the West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) decision to approve £8 million of grant funding to support the next phase of the Kingshurst Village Centre regeneration.
The funding is intended to contribute to the capital costs of Phase 2, which will deliver a new Community, Health and Retail (CHR) building at the heart of Kingshurst. This facility is planned to bring GP services, public health spaces, a dentist, pharmacy and opticians together with a new library, community rooms, café and Co‑op store.
The WMCA funding will now need to be formally accepted by the Council. A report seeking to secure this approval and the go-ahead for the project is being prepared to go to Cabinet in September.
Subject to all funding and approvals being in place, construction work for Phase 2 is expected to begin later this year.
