Masterplan Consultation

Since Outline Planning Permission was granted in December last year, work has continued to develop plans for the new Kingshurst Village Centre. Ongoing consultation with key stakeholders, including health sector and community partners, has been taking place and the masterplan has evolved to reflect these requirements. Community responses to consultation on the previous masterplan have also been considered and used to inform the latest plans.

Based on all of this work we are nearly ready to share the updated masterplan with you, which will form the basis of a full planning application. As part of our upcoming community consultation we will be asking you to share your thoughts and feedback on the updated masterplan and would like to invite you to come and meet the project team at one of our drop-by sessions taking place in the Parade next week:

If you can’t make it along to either event don’t worry. An accompanying feedback survey will be available from Monday 20 September.

We look forward to sharing the updated plans and images of the scheme, which should start to give more of a feel for how the village centre may look when complete.

Your feedback will help us to refine the design before submitting the full planning application at the end of October. This will confirm the detail of the development and, if granted, allow us to move forward to the next stage of the redevelopment.

Local shops and services

It has been clear since the earliest community consultation that delivering the ambitious level of transformation most people want to see in Kingshurst, will have to involve the complete demolition and redevelopment of the Parade.

To try and limit disruption, as far as possible, we have committed to a phased approach to the redevelopment, allowing essential and high priority services to continue operating around the Parade throughout the demolition and construction works.

As the first stage of this the pharmacy and the optician will be vacating their current units and temporarily moving into the former Martin’s newsagent store and the former Dolly’s Diner until the new community and health centre has been constructed.

Unfortunately, physical space constraints mean it is not possible to find temporary units on site for every business currently operating on the Parade. However, our business investment team have been working with local businesses who may have been impacted to try and help identify a range of alternative options depending on their need.

The good news is that the post office has now confirmed that services will be able to resume from the Brown’s Pharmacy once it reopens in its temporary location.

Once complete the new village centre will host a brand new GP surgery, pharmacy, dentist, community space and café alongside a number of high-quality retail units.
